Jawbreaker (Day 0, Mid-Afternoon)

Thank Mandalore that there was a fitness room here. And a well-equipped one too it seemed!

Before tackling what the medical supplies here were like, a good work-out was more important on the menu right not. The brown hair was swept back in a pony-tail before Phoebe stepped up to one of the sandbags, to give it a good round of fists, elbows, and knees.

A good workout was always important, and now that he was settled in it was time to hit the gym!

With a towel thrown over one shoulder Coryn sauntered into the Fitness room wearing some loose-fitting workout clothes. The thumps and smacks from the training dummy weren't exactly inconspicuous. Seeing someone else was already using the room he stroked his perfectly manicured beard and announced himself to avoid any surprises.

"Hello there!"

Another smack in the sandbag, before stopping to assess who was talking to her. Someone much taller than her, of course.

""Su cuy'gar," she nodded, looking at the scruffy-looking man. When she spoke, it was with a distinct Concordian dialect. Sure it had been roughed a bit around the edges, but it was notably still there as the core of her native speech. "You also one of the new folks invited to join the clan?"

That provoked a happy grin and a response that also betrayed a Concordian accent. His was toned with a whole bunch of other unrecognisable hints, bit the core was clearly Concordian. Maybe he hadn't been there for a while. "Me'vaar ti gar? Ner gai Coryn Kusat."

He walked over and extended a hand. " 'lek. Gar serim. Ni bal Laerrins, burcyam."

Well, someone who was actually familiar with Mando'a! Who spoke like someone from Concordia! It was certainly a bright spot in the day to see that others had come to join the Laerrins that actually had roots in Mandalorian culture.

"Naas. Phoebe Wren, burc'ya," she smiled, accepting the hand and giving it a firm squeeze. True to Mandalorian lifestyle, her hands had tell-tale signs that she was accustomed to fighting and brawling."

Phoebe continued in Mando'a. "Not often I've spoken Mando'a like this in some years now. Likewise, I'm here for the Laerrins. Xavien Laerrin was the one who convinced me to come."

Coryn's face lit up at her response and he returned the firm squeeze. "Besides my uncle I haven't spoken to anyone from Concordia in years! Good to meet you Phoebe Wren. Me and the Laerrins, we go way back. Haven't seen em for a while though."

He threw the towel onto a nearby chair and stretched. "Xavien huh? Where'd you meet him?"

[Phoebe Wren]

"Is that so? Must be good to be here then, with long time friends." She kind of envied that, as the Laerrins were not really people she knew well. Xavien was the only one she actually knew, the others were just names and faces.

"Met him nowhere good. He called me a kid, I called him a tuk'ata's rear end, one thing led to another and then there was a bar brawl. Broke his arm, and fixed it up again later."

Coryn nodded, he was looking forward to getting reacquainted with his old friend. He couldn't help but laugh at Phoebe's story.

"You broke his freakin' arm? Haha, wish I'd been there for that one. Firm friends ever since huh?" A bar brawl was usually a good way to make friends with other Mandos.

He shook his head as his laughter subsided. "Well shit. I wonder what adventures we're gonna have? Looking forward to finding out."

"He deserved it," she said firmly, indicating that the Laerrin son had certainly earned it at the time. She wasn't sure if she thought of him as a friend, as such. But she did know what he was. "He is Mando'ade and comrade. That is good enough for me."

His laugh made her chuckle a little, and she started to adjust the wrappings on one of her hands. "Who knows. Maybe a hunt of some sort? That would be kind of a traditional way of going about it, but I guess a new clan and new times need new directions?"

"I bet he did." A smile tugged at his lips as he remembered the rough Mando games they used to play as kids.

"Yeah, sounds about right. Hunting, fighting, maybe building up supplies for the clan. Guess we'll know soon enough." He gestured to the bags. "Want me to spot you?"

[Phoebe Wren]

A few nods. "And which ones do you prefer? Hunting, fighting, or building?" With his suggestion, she smiled. "Sure thing, bur'cya. Been a while since I had someone do that."

"Well mainly the first two, but then you never know when a good heist is gonna be needed for the third. I ran a few against the Empire, pretty damn satisfying." With a grin he moved over to hold the bag for her.

"So you're a medic and a brawler Phoebe?"

That he picked up on that already caught her by surprise, and she gave him a curious look, before turning her attention back to the bag. "That's... right. Yes. Combat medic. And a fighter. Mostly worked out in the field with the Rebels myself."

"How did you know?" a few hard punches flew into the bag.

Coryn leaned in to the punches and held the bag steady for her. "You said you broke Xavien's arm in a bar brawl then fixed it up again. Sounds like a Mandalorian medic to me." He chuckled. "And you were a Rebel too huh? Seems we got a lot in common. Pleased to say I've killed more than my fair share of Imps."

"Perceptive." She grunted as she threw a few more solid hits into the bag. Most muscle she knew didn't catch up on it, and she hadn't really thought about the fact that she had let the detail drop.

"I wasn't much of a rebel, to be honest. More like I was there to patch up some of the fighters where it was needed, and bloody some noses when the opportunity arose. But good to know you got in your fair share of fighting; the Imps deserved everything they got, after what they did to the Mando'ade."

A few more punches, and she paused to look at Coryn. "Got a feeling many of us here might have common backgrounds with the Alliance, considering the Laerrin's were on their side, no?"

"That would make a lot of sense." He kept the bag nice and steady, in itself that could be a good workout.

"I saw a lot of shitty places in my time. I was part of a mercenary company before the alliance. So plenty of small squad work. I like being part of a good team." There had been a bad team. Only the once.

[Phoebe Wren]

"Mm," she grunted in agreement after an elbow-strike, then took a step back to look at Axel.

"Good team comes with good teamwork though. At the moment, none of us know eachother enough to really have that yet, I think? We all got our different styles, different tactics, different ways of thinking." Phoebe didn't even have the experience of working in a team like that.

[Coryn Kusat]

"Yep, true that. Good thing they've got so many training opportunities on this ship, but the sooner we all start working together the better." He gave her a cheerful look. "Axel suggested we try playing Huttball together. Could be fun, it's basically teamwork with added violence."

He gestured to the bag. "Mind switching out for a few? I'm more of a blasters and knives guy, but bag work's always good for keeping in shape."

Wiping the sweat from her brow with the back of her hand, she nodded once. "Yeah, sure. Show me what you got."

Phoebe offered him a fistbump as thanks for holding the bag for her, and then took up her position with holding it steady for Coryn.

"Huttball, huh? Never got into that myself, but it sounds like a good team excersise, I guess... as long as we're not killing eachother. Or doing permanent damage, eh?"

"Set blasters to stun." He mimed finger guns and then started out with a few punching drills. "Heh, don't want to get our medic too annoyed with patching us up just yet."

He added in occasional elbow and knee strikes. It was more about the athletic exercise for him though. Kept him toned.

"It's fun... I played a bit... On the Rim... But it can get... Nasty... If actual Hutts... Are involved." Wiping a sweat trail from his brow he shrugged. "I liked calling plays and shooting the other team though."
