His expression grew rather more serious as he reflected on the question. They had all suffered. Lost friends. Been forgotten. Or in some cases been remembered.

Eventually the memories of the good times resurfaced and the smile returned. He took a drink.

"Yes. Overall I'd say it did. It had its moments, good and bad. But I'm glad I did it." His eyes returned to meet hers. "Did any of your friends join the alliance?"

"Some. Mainly some of the boys I went to school with, though a few girls as well." Her smile became faint. "Honestly I haven't heard much from any of them since they left."

"As for me? Well, my dad thought it wise that we avoided any trouble. The Imperial presence here wasn't a large one, but they could still make things hard on you."

It was a familiar story and he nodded in understanding. "Story's the same wherever you go Maeve. Some of your old friends will be alive and well somewhere out there." He gestured vaguely at the ceiling. "Some of them didn't make it though. Your old man wanted to protect you, and here you are. So that worked out."

Coryn had been enough places like Tatooine to know what life on the Rim was like. It was it's own type of struggle. Crime Lords, gangs, corrupt officials.

"People like me have a habit of getting into trouble. It's worked out so far though."

"I hope more are alive then not." Maeve said with a sad smile. "Maybe I should try and contact some of them." The last was followed by a soft sigh and a shake of her head. "You're right though, Dad was just doing what he thought best.

"So far..." Though he could say that it would be like that forever? Likely not. "It seems like you plan to continue this lifestyle for a few more years at least then?"
