(D2 EM Event) To Slay a Dragon

Postby Nekoinu » Sat Aug 31, 2019 8:30 am

Event Type: Combat
Participants: 3 (Same from In Search of Pearls)
Timeslots: EM

Description:
Waiting for the krayt dragon to arrive is arduous. Maintaining one's position for hours in the freezing weather with nothing more than the sand. Thermal cloaks surely help, but the conditions must make the cots of the Aurora seem like luxury hotel beds.

It may be small consolation that Treya is also suffering through the same ordeal, though suffering may not be the right descriptor. "There," she eventually announces, "Let them fall for the trap. And then it'll be up to you lot to finish them off, if need be."

For the most part, the ambush is a rousing success. The main target, a full-grown krayt dragon, roars at the damage sustained by the trap but is ultimately incapacitated. The complication, then, is the wounded juvenile spiraling towards the group.

"Steady everyone," Treya urges, "Steady yourselves and earn glory!"

Rules:
Roll Cool for Initiative along with combat block!

Riza tempered herself, and tried to get a little shut eye to cool her nerves when waiting. Unfortunately, the desert conditions made that far too difficult to manage. She'd been away from Tatooine too long, got comfortable. Wasn't good for a hunter.

Didn't matter anymore though, time was to make do with what they had, and Riza was ready, she had to be.

The Young Dragon is injured but not out yet, and spotting what might be the cause of its pain its starts to come roaring towards the group. Luckily its wounds make it slow to react.

Cool for initiative.: 2eA 0 successes

The Krayt Dragon starts at Medium from the group. It's wounded but still ready to fight.

Initiative:

Dragon.

The Dragon is Adversary one with Melee and Ranged defense of one. At Shilouette 3 characters are at minus one difficulty to hit. The Gm will spend a destiny to upgrade the first attack roll versus it.

Phoebe tensed, drawing her goo-gun as she considered how the hell they'd bring something like that down. "Uh..."

"Hit it between the eyes!"

Sure, it wasn't the best directions, but it helped a little!

Phoebe's suggestion wasn't a bad one and Coryn gave it a go. With careful aim he unleashed a blaster bolt that might give the dragon some problems, but also made him a prime target. "Spread out so it can't maul us all at once."

Seeing the volley unleashed by one of her partners stagger the great beast, although it was yet young the majesty of the Krayt and the reason for it's reverence was known, Riza buckled in to where she was focusing her attention on her target.

Though, seeing as this was merely a juvenile and not the primary hunt she allowed herself less... restrictions in her attack. Unleashing a extraordinarily heavy volley from her advantageous position.

Running away from a giant dragon, even a juvenile, was smart. However, Phoebe's vantage point showed that the rocks they were on were perfect for the time being. Otherwise, the dragon might delve underneath the sand and be nigh invisible until it wanted to attack.

Fleeing must have been an appealing option. Even as it took the blaster bolts, it made its way up to the ones that hadn't stepped back. Surely their firepower would be diminished a bit too, as Coryn's rifle went dry.

"Time to move," she said over the comms through her helmet. Rolling out of the way as the beast came closer, getting on the other side of the beast as she moved to encircle the creature between them. Cape fluttering in the speed of the motion.

It would be best to prevent the beast from moving too much and Phoebe fired her Goo-gun with decent accuracy. Yet the weapon couldn't produce enough goo to actually impede such a large creature apart from being like gum underneath the shoe.

"Stay on the rocky grounds. It will stop it from burrowing underneath us!"

Coryn calmly pulled out a replacement power pack, inserted it into his rifle and fired at the dragon. The force of the blast knocked the creature to the ground, but the bolt seemed to be absorbed by it's armour plating.

As it writhed around he ran back onto the rocks. They were now positioned so that it couldn't attack them all at once. "Okay, let's take this thing down."

----

Maneuver to install a new Power pack
Action to make a ranged attack

Day 2. EM. Shoot her! Close = Easy - 1 (Size) = Simple + Adversary 1 = 1 purple. 1 boost from Phoebe. 2 boosts from Accurate 2.: 2eP+2eA+3eB+1eD+1eS 0 successes, 6 advantage, 1 Triumph

2 advantage for a free maneuver (Move back onto the rocks but away from Phoebe, not sure if that's Short or Medium from the Dragon - your call GMs)
1 advantage to recover 1 strain.
3 advantage to give next PC 2 boost dice

Triumph to knock the dragon prone.

The shot glanced off its scales, but managed to make the creature lose its footing. With a roar and rolling motion The Dragon came to its and lunged towards the closest opponent. A small morsel, but certainly able to sate its hunger for a few moments.

Sadly its jaws were unable to connect, but it was able to kick up enough sand to make it harder to see.

Maneuver: stand from prone
2 strain: close with phoebe
Action:attempt to mual.

Attacking the yummy bunny with teeth and claws. Assuming player destiny: 2eP+2eA+2eD+1eC 2 failures, 3 advantage

No wounds, 3 advantage for +1 ranged defense.
GM will spend destiny on next attack roll vs it.

Dropping her gun, as it would probably not be able to ensnare such a large opponent, Phoebe drew the massive sword on her back and swung after the great beast. Its thick plating proved too tough for the weapon to penetrate, but she had its attention now.

"Shoot her while I got its attention!" she called out as she slid back from the impact of the attack, giving room for the others to shoot.

Hopefully Riza and Coryn could take it down quickly.

Turning on a pivot Riza faces the beast once more as the weight of the weapon digs into her shoulder at the sling. Firing off another, smaller and more concentrated, volley Riza hoped to end the beasts thrashing. Unfortunately, it was the beasts thrashing and the conditions imposed by it that caused the bolts to not meet their mark.

While the beast wasn't yet dead the sound of the volley and the bolts landing all around would, she hoped, give enough of a distraction to create an opening for her partners in this hunt.

The dragon was almost defeated; surely a single shot would take it down. Riza could see it holding on to its last limb(s.)

But an almost dead dragon isn't a dead dragon. It hobbled over in fury and chomped at the man that had wounded it so grievously.

"No you don't!" the short Mandalorian cried furiously as the dragon turned away from her and charged towards Coryn, and she leapt after it with a furious swing of her greatsword, which struck deep into the thick hide of its hind legs as its vibroedge severely damaged the muscles and tendons there.

With another limb gone, the dragon collapsed onto the jagged rock. It squirmed there, defiant to the last breath. It did, though, soon take its last breath.

"You alright over there, Kusat?" Treya asked, coming out of the dirt suddenly. She dusted her armor off and marched over. "Looked like just a flesh wound to me."

Her eyes went over to the juvenile and then to its mother. "How's that for a team-building exercise, eh?"
