(D1 EA) Aggressive Acquisition

Event Type: Combat
Participants: 4
Timeslots: EA
Description:
With the fall of Jabba the Hutt, numerous gang leaders have tried to assert dominance over the criminal enterprise on Tatooine. It hasn't gotten to the point of open warfare, but constant meddling in each other's affairs is fair game. Some earn more under this system, some earn less, and many more die. Kelvor, one of the local gang leaders, plans to be a winner.
Xavien has taken on Kelvor’s job to ambush a rival’s ship transporting smuggled goods. Due to her prior experience, Kairi has asserted that she should be the one in charge of the raid. A good old breach and clear, at least, that's what she wanted.
The clan opted to take on the subtler approach of taking the cargo via deception. Hopefully this will reduce the toll of violence. No need for bleeding hearts, be they literal or figurative. Plus it might earn less enemies...

Rose was kitted out, her dark thermal cloak protecting her from the heat. She crossed her arms over her armoured chest, restlessly drumming her fingers on her biceps.

Phoebe was there too, clad in her laminate armor in the Mandalorian style, with the thermal cloak draped over her short frame to stave off the heat, and decked out for the mission.

Coryn was ready for action, but would settle for subtlety. His scout armour featured a Mandalorian-style helmet complete with an internal long-range comms system. It was partly covered by a thermal cloak Given that this was going to be a ship-based mission he had his trusty EE-3 locked and loaded.
Whatever Xavien's plan was he hoped it was going to pay off.

"Thanks for coming everyone." Xavien offered a smile to the group as he glanced back at them from the pilot seat.
"This should be a pretty easy mission, all we need to do is find the vessel and lie ourselves in, then I have a little cocktail to knock them out."
"Just pop one of those pills over there, and you'll be fine." He gestured to a packet of tablets on the table.
Step one: Pop a Pill and Find the Ship: Roll an Averages Computers Check with one Setback due to electronic countermeasures. Every member can attempt this once, just need a single success to move along.

Axel gave Xavien a scowl in return for the smile, but he did as directed, popping one of the pills.
He was fully armed and (operational) armored, his big sword magnetically attached to a spot on the back of his armor.

Coryn grabbed a pill too. "Well I'm no sensor expert but I can help out?" He looked over at the screen for any signs of their target.

Rose tipped her head back, and held it there for a while, pulling a face once the pill was finally down, she would have preferred a stim delivery, but pills were what she was given, so she was going to roll with it. The redhead raised an eyebrow as Phoebe spoke in what she presumed was Mando'a, I'm going to need to learn that, I suppose.

Coryn leaned over Phoebe's shoulder. After a few minutes of getting to grips with the view he spotted something. It was intermittent, maybe camouflaged somehow with counter-measures.
"What's that flashing?" For the benefit of the others he added: "Think I see something."

"Looks like you found here." Xavien replied with a grin. As he set in the course. "I'll hail them under the proper frequencies. So whose up for some acting?"
"We'll need to convince them we're here to inspect the shipment or something."
-------------------------------
Gaining Access: One character can roll Deception or Coercion at Hard to gain access to the ship by feigning involvement with the proper syndicate
- OR -
It's all in the Smile: One Character can try Charm or Negotiation at Average with one setback, and one upgrade. To convince theme to give you a look at the goods before they hit the market.

"Sure, I'm in! Axel, stand behind me and look... Yeah, like that!" Clearing his throat Coryn stroked his beard and paused before stepping up to the Holo.
It was a decent performance. Before long the crew of the vessel seemed rather keen to let Coryn and his associates take first pick of their haul. Ending the call he winked at the others. "Told ya. Winning personality."
---
RollDay 1. EA. It's all in the Smile: Average Charm with one setback, and one upgrade. Upgrade from equipment. Loom bonus from Axel may apply.:
3eP+2eD+1eS 1 success, 1 threat

Final result = 1 success + 1 advantage.

The men were a bit wary at first, but the prospect of a few more credits in their pockets were a easy sell. Soon enough the ship was docked alongside the larger vessel and boarding tunnels were deployed and pressurized.
"Alright, and here is where things get tricky. Two of you are going to go and have a look at the goods, while the other two sneak to engineering."
Xavien rose from his seat and produced a device from a pouch on his belt. Those in engineering will have to plant this in their air circulators. After that it will cycle a agent through the atmosphere and put all those on board to sleep." He grinned. "It might help those sneaking along, if the first pair keeps the crew a bit occupied."
-------------------------
Step three: Sneak away. This is a stealth check at average to duck into the ship as the other crew is chatting with the crew and being shown around.
Optional: The Distraction. The other two clmembers of the team can try to distract the crew to make it easier to sneak away. Each successful roll will add a boost to a stealth check. The options are the following.
Talk shop: Streetwise or Underworld at Average
Or
A pretty face: Charm at Average.

Axel went along, scowling, but that wasn't a problem. People expected criminal thugs like Axel to be a bit scowly. And even if he wasn't actually a criminal thug, he certainly knew how to talk like one.
He stuck close to Phoebe, just in case.
----------------------------------------------------------
Agg Acq, Streetwise vs average:
1eP+2eA+2eD 2 successes

Boost to Rose
(can Phoebe benefit from Axel's loom?)

The plan went well, about as flawlessly as anyone could expect, and soon enough Rose and Coryn arrived at engineering.
It seemed most of the crew was distracted with the guests arrival and room was empty. Allowing the pair to work unmolested.
Meanwhile Axel and Phoebe were escorted to the hold where they were presented with the ships cargo. A group of about three dozen slaves. A variety able to please most patrons
--------------------------------
Rose and Coryn: Plant the Device: Roll Mechanics at Average with two setback - 1 setback for having the right tools for the job. Each character can attempt this once, or one can assist the other. You have one "round" to accomplish this... Unless.
Axel and Phoebe: Buying a slave. The slaves are priced between 1000 and 6000 credits a successful negotiation at Average check lowers this price by 10% per success. In addition each success gives Rose and Coryn one more round to work should they fail the roll.
Disclaimer: I dont expect you to actually buy a slave. Unless you really want to. This is merely a ploy to buy time for the others.
