Good For What Ails Ya (D4EA, OPEN)

Axel was in the galley, a seeming blur of activity. Destruction followed in his wake, even if it was a very orderly sort. Knife in hand, he cut a brutal path through meats, fruits, and vegetables, his cuts both quick and precise.
And the eggs. So many eggs. Dozens of broken shells, the treasures inside deposited into a growing bowl. After all, as the saying goes, you can't make an omelette without killing some people. Or something like that.
He hummed softly as he worked, surprisingly tuneful.

Coryn leaned against the open door with his arms folded. He wasn't sure if he was being nonchalant or holding himself up. 50:50
"Whatcha makin' bro? I was thinking about waffles..."

Feeling better after a solid six hours of sleep, Rose shuffled into the galley to get a morning kaff. She slipped past Coryn and assessed the damage, raising an eyebrow. "Oh, heck, I'm not cleaning that up."

Axel grunted. "Omelettes. Fat, protein, grease, vitamins. All good stuff after last night." His voice was a little softer than usual, an interesting contrast with the roughness.
He glanced at Coryn, his eyes only a little red. "Waffles'd go well. Some more carbs and sugars." With the knife, he pointed to another part of the galley. "Got some more room if you wanna join in."
Rose got a scowl, but with Axel, that was pretty normal. "I've got it under control." He said.

Not far behind was the shortest of the recruits, still wearing pink pajama-pants along with a blue tank top. The hair was still a mess as it seemed she was still prioritizing sustenance over style at the moment.
Walking on auto-pilot to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of vitamin-juice, she didn't really stop to take it all in until she stepped on half an egg on the floor. In puzzlement she stopped, looked down, and it took her a few seconds to process the scenario... and then the scene of the crime.
"What... the..."

Coryn let the doorway go back holding itself up. "Waffles it is! Morning Rose, Phoebe." He stepped around the mess and started looking for mixing bowls and the waffle iron. The sounds of metal sliding on metal were unpleasant as he looked through the lower cupboards.
"Jesus Toboga! Who stacks shit like this?" His head popped up. "Dude. Where did you put the waffle iron?

Rose took charge of the kaff machine, grinding off the beans and scooping them into the drip filter. She made it extra strong, she at least needed it.

"... morning..." she murmured, taking a sip of juice.
"Jesus Toboga indeed..." Phoebe echoed Coryn. "... Was there a food fight here?"

"I said I've got it under control!" Axel winced at the sound of his own voice.
He cleared his throat, speaking more softly. "I got a system. It works. Really."
This time, Coryn got the scowl. "Don't look at me. All sorts of folks just come skippin' through here like it's their kitchen. Skip skip skip." Grunting, he shook his head. "I'm just trying to make omelettes."
He waved his knife around. "Who's in?"

"Yeah, sure, I'm game," if he cooked half as well as he made a mess, the food promised to be good.

"As long as it's food, I'm in too," she grabbed a paper-towel to wipe her foot clean. Besides, she was no cook, so it would just be cereal or another nutrition-bar if she had to get breakfast herself.
"And I definitely want waffles!"

Grunting, Axel began the actually cooking work, pouring a portion of the eggs into a frying pan. It was a really, really big frying pan. And quite a lot of egg.
A sizzling sound filled the air, as well as the smell of cooking egg. Axel traded his knife for a spatula, his motions just as precise as before.

"I'm in for omelettes..." He started searching high and low. "Seeing as you've hidden the damn waffle iron." The clanking went on for a while.
"I am not the right person to be finding things... I need a soda." The fridge door opened. "A soda and some of that kaff and... Seriously?! Axel. Why is the waffle iron in the fridge?! That makes no sense." He muttered under his breath. "You coulda just cleaned it..."
With a shrug and a shake of his head he got to work at the sink.

Rose blinked, coughing, "Axel, you must have been drunker than we thought last night."

"What?" Scowling, Axel shot a glance at his roommate. "That doesn't..."
His frown deepened. He remembered watching Huttball. He remembered everyone cheering. He remembered someone shouting waffles... he remembered going into the kitchen...
"Uh..." Axel scratched awkwardly at his beard. "You sure it was me?" He asked uncertainly.

Phoebe was looking away to avoid the others catching a glimpse of her guilty face, and busying her mouth with the intake of more juice.

Rose just laughed and sipped her kaff. "Bring on the eggs and waffles, boys."

"You don't sound sure it wasn't..." The unmistakable sounds of a waffle iron being vigorously scrubbed rose to fill the room.
Eventually he just laughed and flicked some suds at the back of Axel's head. "Eggs and waffles coming up. I saw some mixing bowls earlier." He got work on the waffle mix, the smell of fresh kaff providing energy.

Having finished her juice, Phoebe turned back to the others.
"Lucky us, there are people here who can cook," she watched Axel and Coryn at work with a snicker. "I might've lived on breakfast cereal and nutrition bars otherwise."

"There is definitely something appealing about a man who can cook, no matter how scruffy and hungover they are." Rose flicked a strand of red hair off her forehead.
