Top or Bottom? (Pregame, eggspecting)

[Axel Ward]

The door slid open, and Axel stepped through, his eyes narrowing as he studied the room, leaving the door open behind him. After a moment, he grunted. Good enough. He did pause a moment, studying the banner on the wall with narrowed eyes, but impassive expression.

Should it make him feel anything?

With a grunt, he let his heavy bag drop to the ground next to the bunk bed, swinging his newly freed arm to stretch. "Could do a lot worse." He said to himself, his voice rough.

[Coryn Kusat]

A low whistle from the doorway was the only warning of his roommate's arrival. "Jesus Toboga, what they been feedin you? Heh. Hey big fella, looks like we're roomies."

WIth his immaculately kept beard and roguish good-looks the newcomer was quite a long ways from the rough-around-the-edges, scruffy-by-design-or-just-scruffy occupant. He threw a pack onto the top bunk and offered a hand.

"Name's Coryn Kusat, pleasure I'm sure."

Axel turned with a grunt. Indeed, he looked a bit like Coryn grew a bit, and stopped cutting his hair or beard. And then someone attacked him with a meat tenderizer. "Axel Ward." He said, clasping the other man's hand firmly, but not uncomfortably so.

Nodding towards the bunk, Axel snorted. "So, you just come in here, throw your stuff on the top bunk, and now it's yours? Is that how it is?" Muscular arms crossed equally muscular chest, but despite his scowl, Axel's tone made it clear that he was amused.

"Nice to meet you Axel." He flashed a charming grin. "Pretty much, I usually get away with it on account of my winning personality." Chuckling he added: "'Course, if you want to fight me for it, my money's on you, but that bunk ain't gonna collapse on account of my muscles..." A deliberate look at Axel's bulging frame suggested he wasn't so sure about the reverse.

"So. We good big fella?" His gaze shifted to the Clan banner and he smiled at it a moment before returning his attention to Axel. "If you don't mind my asking, how d'you know the Laerrins?"

Axel laughed, or at least chuckled, a rough low sound. "Alright, mister winning personality. Let's start you off on the top bunk. See how you do with it." His arm flexed noticeably as he lifted his pack onto the bottom bunk.

He followed Coryn's gaze to the banner, and back again. He shrugged. "Met the older daughter a few years back. Did a few missions with her when she was with the Rebellion." He grunted. "You?"

"Sweet, this'll be fun!" Coryn started unpacking a few things and putting them into drawers and the closet.

"Oh yeah, you know Kairi? And you were in the Rebellion too? Guess we got plenty in common then."

Gracefully Coryn rolled up into the top bunk, folded his hands behind his head, and kicked his boots off. They landed with a satisfying thump.

"We go way back. Known 'em since I was a kid. I was ten or something."

[Axel Ward]

Axel snorted. "if you say so."

He kicked off his boots too, but leaned against the wall, his arms still crossed. "Well, I don't know if I'd say I was in the Rebellion. Never joined up. But I did missions for them, and wouldn't take any against them." He shrugged. "Maybe that means something, I don't know."

Quietly, Axel chuckled. "But yeah, I knew Kairi as Laerrin. Was she as much of a hardass as a kid?" The way he said it, it almost sounded like a compliment.

Coryn chuckled and listened to his roomie's description of his time served. He shrugged.

"Hey man, you helped the rebels and not the Empire. That's good enough for me." His legs swung over the edge and he held onto the side with his hands.

"Me, I joined up to kill as many Imps as I could. Helped a lot of folks in the process. Saw a lot of places no one ever gave a shit about. Interesting times."

A warm smile rigged at the corners of his mouth. "As for Kairi, yeah. She's always been a hardass, and I mean that in the best way. Heh. It'll be good to see 'em all after all this time."

[Axel Ward]

Axel gave the other man a nod. "Damn right." He grunted. "Looks like we're gonna get to see a lot more places now. Maybe help some folks, too." A shrug of his broad shoulders. "Guess we'll see."

Another acknowledging grunt. "So, you been in touch with them, just not seen 'em? Or what?"

[Coryn Kusat]

"Yeah, I'm looking forward to some new adventures. Hopefully do some good, make some money, help the Laerrins and Mandalore." He stretched a few muscles in his neck and waved his hand in the universal 50:50 gesture.

"Kinda yes, kinda no. I've been outta circulation for a while. When I heard about the offer to form a clan I knew it was time to come back."

"Yeah, sounds good to me." Axel said, his brows drawing down as he frowned. He scratched at his beard a little awkwardly with one hand.

Well, if you couldn't talk to your roommate, who could you talk to? "Actually, I don't really know what all this is about." He admitted. "Forming a Clan, Mandalorians, all that stuff." Axel admitted, still frowning. "I mean... I don't know." He shrugged. "What's it mean?"

"Gar ne suvarir Mando'a, Axel?" Coryn jumped down and gave the bigger man a friendly clap on the shoulder.

"It's all new to you huh. No worries, I'll teach you if you like? I'm from Concordia, that's Mandalore's moon. We're a warrior culture and we've got a shitload of rebuilding to do after two civil wars and interference from the Empire. Our leader is the Mand'alor, her name is Bo'tan Kryze. I guess the main thing to remember about all of this clan stuff is that being asked to form a clan is a huge honour." He pointed at the banner. "So that's a big deal for the Laerrin's, and by extension us too."

[Axel Ward]

"Uh..." Axel chuckled softly as Coryn clapped his shoulder. "Yeah, we're gonna have to start from the beginning, I guess."

"Yeah, okay. I know Concordia. Know a few people from there." Axel nodded.

He turned to the banner. "Okay, I guess I get that. An honor. Is it like a special unit, or something? Or..." Axel frowned. "A family?"

"Yeah... Kinda both actually." He gave the big man a grin. "Well this takes me back."

Coryn closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Waving a finger he put on a deep growling voice. "Well my boy let me tell you a thing or two. We're gonna get the damned Resol'nare into you 'til you're sayin' it in your sleep."

With a chuckle he added. "As ol' uncle Cam did say unto me every damn day I hereby will say unto you."

Axel chuckled again. "Alright, old man Kusat. Sounds good to me. I gotta learn about it somehow. And if this is like other times I've been in a unit, we'll have plenty of time sitting around with nothing else to do."

He narrowed his eyes, regarding Coryn. "Don't suppose you're a Huttball fan, are you? Watching or playing?"

Coryn laughed and was obviously happy with Axel's response. "Yeah, can't train all the time. I'll be your friendly guide to Mandalore."

He raised his eyebrows at the Huttball question. "Hell yeah! Played some around the Rim this past year. I don't follow a team or anything but I'm game."

[Axel Ward]

"Yeah?" Axel nodded approvingly. "I like to catch a game now and then. Played a bit, years ago."

He smirked, just a little. "I think, hey, this holovid display isn't the biggest but we gotta use it for something. And there's nothing for getting revved up for playing a game of Huttball like watching a few games." Actually, he knew a few people who'd backed out of a game after watching a few; it was very violent, after all.

"Sounds like a plan! Yeah, I mainly call plays and shoot the other team. I'm guessing you like to get up in their faces?" He gave the bigger man a cheeky grin.

"Maybe we can pull a Laerrin team together? Might be good for letting off steam in between missions."

[Axel Ward]

"Yeah, I'll bet you are, with your charming personality." Axel joked. "Well, we all got our thing. And yeah, I do best when I'm right up there." He shrugged.

"Yeah, that'd be great." He said. "Good way to make an impression, too. Show up in a new city, kick ass at Huttball. Next day we'd be passing out autographs." The autographs thing was probably a joke.

"Haha, yep, we all got our thing!" He raised an eyebrow at the autographs bit. "That can get old fast. It's kinda fun the first time though." With a shrug he went back to unpacking his equipment.

"So, you met any of the other recruits yet?"
